Emery's First Haircut and the Big Race

We finally decided it was time for Emery to have little trim. He was looking really scruffy around the ears. I thought for sure it would be a nightmare to do and that he would cry. But I was completely wrong. I think he liked the vibration of the clippers on his head because he was just full of giggles and smiles. I dropped the ball and didn't get a good before or after picture but here are a few that I got during.

Any body that has known me for a while has probably heard me say before that I hate to run. It is something that I thought I could never ever do. Not too long ago with some prodding from neighbor and encouragement from my sister in law, I decided to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that the first time out I ran 2 miles without having to walk at all. After that my neighbor convinced me that we needed to sign up for an organized run and somehow we ended up signing up for a 10k! 6.2 miles! I really didn't think I would ever be able to do it, but thought worse case scenario I could walk part of it if I had to. The big race was on Saturday and, yes folks, I am still alive! We trained for the last few months and I was even able to run the whole thing. My time wasn't the best, but I reached my one and only goal of finishing without having to walk at all. My official time (including a short potty break about 2 miles in) was 1 hour 18 minutes and 23 seconds. I finished 1344 out of 1733 runners and was 193 in my age group. So when Ethan and Emily asked if I won, the answer is not even close, but I actually finished and that is all that matters. It was so fun to see Eric and the kids at the finish line. They were right there cheering me on! I also have to say that I have the greatest friends. Eric had been out of town and got home pretty late the night before my race. When he came inside he asked if I saw all the writing on the driveway. I was completely confused and wondering what the kids had done until I went out and saw this....

It's hard to see in the picture, but it says "Good luck Tori", "You can do it" and "Run, girl, run!" It was so cute and so nice of her!!

Here I am just a few feet from the finish line!

I am trying to decide what my next goal will be. I know there are a few 5k races coming up so I will probably do a few of those. So that's the scoop on my big race. Who'd have ever thought I could actually do it?

You look great! My baby got a haircut on Saturday too, not his first, but I told Plantboy that the curls were getting a little wild and needed a trim. Well, now the curls are GONE. I hope they come back.

Ooh, he still looks so cute.

Way to go on the race. That's impressive. We should do one together.

I'm so jealous that Emery actually likes to have his hair cut. Ethan acts like I am killing him. Congrats on the accomplishment. I love to run, and always have. I think you should keep it up and one day run a marathon. I promise you it isn't as bad as it sounds, and it is an accomplishment that makes you feel healthy and strong!!
