So my big boy turned 6 a couple days ago. I can't believe that I have a 6 year old (am I really that old?). Since I wasn't a blogger when he was born, I thought it might be fun to share a little bit about when he was born. Ethan didn't really want to come join us. He was 2 weeks late and even then they had to induce me because he wasn't going any where. My mom had shown up on my due date so we all sat around just waiting. We showed up really early the day of my induction. I remember being really nervous but also so excited to see my little boy. It was a pretty uneventful day, we sat around and watched movies, read books and just chatted. In the early afternoon they decided to break my water and that is when I started to feel real pain. I really am a wimp so I immediately asked for the epidural and was glad to be able to rest and sleep after it kicked in. Around 7:30 that night they told me I was about ready to push. That is when the fun began. I started pushing around 8:00 and he was finally born at 9:30. When he finally came out all the Dr. and nurses could keep saying was that he was huge and boy they were right! He was 8 lbs 10 oz! When we would go look at him in the nursery he was huge compared to all the other babies. Every nurse that would bring him into me couldn't believe that I had such a big baby and that I didn't have a c-section. I am glad that my biggest baby was my first because I thought all the pain I had sitting and walking afterwards was just normal. After I had Emily (she was 6lbs 10 oz) I realized that all that pain was just because he was so much bigger. Ethan is my sweet little boy. He was an easy baby, and a fairly mellow toddler. I decided to do a fun little slide show of him with pictures from his birthday party at the end. Here is also a list of some of the things I love about my little E-boy!
- He is a smarty pants. He picks things up so quickly and is always keeping me on my toes.
- He loves his brother and sister. He will always take care of them and he loves to play with Emily. They will go upstairs and just play together for hours.
- He doesn't like to go to sleep. He quit napping really early and has never needed as much sleep as my other 2. We do bedtime at 7:30 every night. Emily is out quick but Ethan is always up just singing, talking and sneaking in toys until 8:30 or 9:00. He also is always falling asleep in strange places. I included a few pictures in the slide show, but those pictures just represent a few of the funny places I have found him.
- He takes after his dad and is always wanting to know how things work. Needless to say I have to tell him often to ask dad when he gets home.
- He is always thinking of others. For his birthday he wanted to do a cake that was half hot wheels and half Barbie so that the girls didn't feel left out. He also wanted everyone at his party to be able to open a present. If he gets a treat at church he always asks for one for his little sister (and he really does give it to her too).
Of course there are many more things about him that I love but these are just a few. Enjoy the slide show and Happy Birthday Ethan!
